Mindfullness
Mindfulness can be thought of as a meditation that encourages you to raise self-awareness of your ‘here-and-now’ experience – thoughts, feelings, behaviour, sensations. One of the most important aspects to remember is to be an ‘unbiased observer’ to yourself without interpretations, expectations or judgment.
There are a number of different ways of practicing mindfulness. For example, here are 3 easy ways of practicing mindfulness throughout your day:
- )Standing, walking, sitting, moving and lying down can be a mindful activity.
- )Integrating mindfulness in other activities, e.g. yoga, lifting weights at the gym, or even sipping a cup of tea.
- )Short pauses (using slow and conscious breathing) periodically throughout the day (e.g. before driving a car, when you sit at your desk)
